In aid of the charity, La Casa del Encuentro, as part of Warwick SU’s International Women’s Week, we’ll be taking a rare trip to Warwick to present a selection of shorts with a Latin American vibe. Featuring films from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia and mixing animation, live-action drama, and documentary, this is a unique chance to see a varied programme of South American filmmaking. Highlights include the multi-award winning animated gem, Luminaris which tells the tale of two co-workers in a light bulb factory who manage to find love in the unlikeliest of places, and Aly Muritiba’s The Factory which takes us to a Brazilian prison where a mother visits her son, but things aren’t always as they appear. There’ll also be an opportunity to don a pair of oldskool 3D glasses, as the Columbian short, Moving Still takes us on a trip through a metropolis where the buildings appear to crumble all around us!
Entry will cost £3, 100% of which will go towards helping victims of domestic abuse in Buenos Aires. La Casa Del Encuentro is an NGO founded in 2003 committed to fighting gender violence, prostitution and the human trade. We are delighted to be supporting this worthy cause.
