KINO 10: Tap to Retry – Sun 16 Sept

After a summer hiatus, we’re back at The Bull’s Head in Moseley this September, bringing with us a fantastic selection of short films. There are multi-award-winning films from Denmark, Norway, Spain, Japan, Israel, and the UK. From the sublime to the bizarre, no where else will you find such a brilliant selection of international shorts.

RETRO BOBBY; a documentary about Bobby Ågren who runs a retro-gaming shop called Ruben & Bobby in Copenhagen, where you can buy, sell or trade old games from the ’70s ’80s ’90s as well as getting a haircut in the meantime; yes you got it right, Ruben & Bobby is also a hair salon.

GOAT FOOT EGG GRENADES; another fantasticly funny short from experimental audio-visual artist, Andrew Rowe, in which he records a conversation between himself and an old colleague on the subject of opposing beliefs. The results are hilarious.

FINI; winner of the Danish Academy Award for Best Short Documentary and the Bill Douglas Award for International Film at Glasgow Short Film Festival 2012, this beautiful short doc follows the daily routine of Fini, the director’s 85 year old grandfather who has Alzheimer’s disease. Fini has a hard time getting up, and his experiences in the daily care center are confusing. Yet the patient compassionate gaze of the director reveals a positive individual who, against all odds, manages to enjoy a spark of life.

There’s also music videos from Norwegian synthpop ensemble, Casiokids and Japanese traditional-flavored folk band, Omodaka. TAP TO RETRY; a madly majestic stop-motion short, FACTS ON CATS; one of the entries to the first Internet Cat Video Film Festival, and a whole host of others shorts.

Thought short films weren’t for you? Think again.
